Art Show

May 27th and 28th

Featuring a number of two and three dimensional pieces by our students.  This year, Div. 9 created animal paintings, hat sculptures, Van Gogh reproductions, and nature mandelas.

#2- Theme Hats for Art Show

Structures- Final Day

In groups, students built structures as they focused on using the most effective building materials and shapes for their design.  They had to consider the foundation of their structure as well.  Afterwards, each structure was put to the test of supporting as many math textbooks as possible.  Lot of fun and learning in this science unit on structures!

Art Show Theme Hats

Div. 9 is creating paper mache hats to display at the Art Show.  

"Starry Night"

Happy Valley's school-wide art show is in the evening on May 27th and 28th.  Our class is looking at Van Gogh's artwork and creating our own "Starry Nights."  We are trying to show the brush strokes and movement in our pieces and are paying careful attention to colour.  

First we sketched ....

 Next, we added layers of colour using different colours of pastels...

The final results are breathtaking and we are extremely proud of our effort and skills.

Students looked for real-world examples of polygons around our school yard.
